When we talk about a large project like a video wall, the first question that always comes to everyone’s mind is, what will a video wall cost me? This is a very good question. High-tech, futuristic, creative solutions are great, but sometimes these can come up with a decent price point. Many factors go into the video wall cost and make it impossible to give an across-the-board estimate. The Starting Price:

There are lots of factors and options for the video wall. The decent starting price for the 2×2 video wall is made up of 46 LCD monitors that cost $18,000. The random consumer-grade TV that you will pick up at best Buy is less advanced than the hardware that goes into the video wall. The display that you will find in the professional-grade video wall is specifically designed for the video wall setting. The most cost-effective LCD wall would have less processing, large bezels, and less built-in functionality. But the nicer brand that has great processing, almost zero bezels, and plenty of flexibility might run around $22,000. If we look at the size and application of LED and LCD, they can be priced pretty competitively against each other, each offering its own unique advantage. That would be just as cost-effective to purchase a large TV if you need a unique layout.

Factors to consider for planning a Video Wall:

 

1.    Content

When trying to find the price of the video wall, you first need to put some context behind what you will be using it for. What departments can use it? Will it be client-facing or internal? And what content will it be showing? Before deciding on the best solution, you need to know what you are trying to display. Will it be paired with an audio system to show movies at the hotel pool? Will you be using it in a lobby to display branded content? Will the corporations be using it to display internal announcements?

There are endless possibilities, and the potential is enormous. Maybe you should just get two if you face a hard time deciding what to choose.

 

2.    Location

This is a much more practical way to think about this, though. For beginners, you need to put the video wall somewhere. If you have a high-tech display, then it is awesome and all. However, shoving it in a corner where nobody ever walks by it won’t be any good. It will be challenging to find a place for your video wall, depending on the existing fixtures and your business. Replacing some old monitors or other wall-mounted pieces will be worth it if you want that sweet look of a seamless LED experience. The size and the size of the wall will impact what you can do with the space and make sure that video wall panels can be uniquely arranged to fit in the specific space. Whenever someone says video wall, you may think it needs to be a rectangle that takes up an entire wall. From that mindset, it breaks free. You can arrange panels more unconventionally. You can do long, taller, completely square, and narrow or cover the whole wall from floor to ceiling in video panels. You can also create facades to frame the video wall into your desired shape. Depending on the creation of custom content, you may need help depending on your need.

The audience’s distance from the screen will impact the pixel pitch you will need for the video wall. The pixel pitch needs to be 3:1. This point is general. For example, if the pixel pitch on the wall is about 4cm, the viewers need to be at least 12 ft away. If the pixel pitch is smaller, the panel has tighter pixels together, and the closer the viewer is to the screen without seeing individual pixels. Whereas the larger the pixel pitch, the fewer and the farther away the pixels are from each other, the viewer needs to be away from the screen to see the picture clearly.

 

Lastly, depending on how you build the space, you might need to reinforce the wall to be able to hold the weight of your video wall panels. There are times when this is not a problem. However, just in case. It is worth mentioning that the common misconception is that your video wall has to go on your wall. However, you don’t need to settle for the inconvenient wall placement. 3.    LED VS LCD

The video wall you want can be a major price factor. LED walls can be used inside and outside and are completely seamless. Some are also flexible, allowing for a more creative install. These LCD walls are made up of many displays programmed to show some sections of the content. With this wall, you can easily see thin lines between each screen. Few screens have a larger bevel than the other ones, impacting the price; LCD has tended to be cheaper than LED. However, now LED prices are coming down. The correct solution for this will be your budget, personal preference, and the applications.

 

4.    Additional Hardware

Now again, another practical piece but sometimes that something gets overlooked by the client who is just researching the solutions. The price of the video call does not just stop at the price of the panels or screen. For: video walls can be set up with interactive attachments that can also switch the walls into the big touch screen. Or also, if the wall is for the exhibit at the theme park or in a museum, you will need an audio system installed so the guests can also hear what they are seeing. The team will need a system to control the wall. Unlike the TV at your home, there is not the small pre-programmed or a little button remote that comes built-in. You need to have the right internal function in place to control the system. Like who updates the content on this, however, you need to have a correct hardware solution. 5.    Maintenance and Support

Regular maintenance on a large price like the video wall is always a good option. Depending upon the type of video wall and where it is installed. You might also need more frequent maintenance. The panels need to be replaced, occasionally, a few pixels may need to be swapped out, and colors might need adjustment. Regular maintenance will help ignore the problem turning into an on-site emergency visit or the powdered-down non-functional system, and you wait for the hardware to be delivered. This is where you can rack up long-term costs if you don’t partner up with the right company. A lot of IT companies might charge you per call.
